Gripen Shows Combat Capability on Danish Television

The Saab/Gripen team was delighted to host a visit by Danish journalist Ann Marker, who was making a programme about combat fighter aircraft, and had the chance to get up close and personal with the Gripen multi-role fighter at Saab.

5/5/2008 | The programme was one in the popular Danish TV series ‘Knowledge about…..’, which presents technical and scientific subjects in a clear and understandable way. This particular programme ‘Knowledge about fighter aircraft in air-to-air combat’ was featured on Danish national TV-station DR2 on Tuesday night.

During the programme we follow journalist Ann Marker who, after passing the medical flight test, is cleared to fly in the back seat of the Gripen multi-role fighter. The aircraft performs a number of aerobatic combat manoeuvres, exposing the journalist to 7g pressure – only 2g from maximum performance. The programme reveals many of the tactical advantages of the Gripen fighter; Gripen is small, manoeuvrable, easy to maintain and quick to turnaround.

The programme will be re-run on channel DR2 on Wednesday night at 00.45 and on channel DR1 Thursday morning at 10.00.
