We recognize that Technology Transfer is the Key to Autonomy

We recognize that a key factor in delivering the full value of this type of offset - thereby providing the level of national autonomy required to respond to future strategic defence needs - lies in the transfer of high technology in all key areas.

Therefore, the formation of long-term partnerships between Gripen International, our principal partners (Volvo and GE) and local companies and institutions is a prerequisite.

Training is a fundamental part of our technology transfer philosophy. Know-how, infrastructure, processes, software, tools and models are all important elements of our comprehensive training package.

The benefits accrued through the process of technology transfer serve not only to support the Gripen aircraft but are also available to flow into a range of other military and civil programs, as well as to other sectors of the economy.

Most of our customers have their own established national aerospace and defence industries and view the opportunity to enhance their capability in this strategic sector through active participation in the Gripen program as a key benefit from acquiring the aircraft system.

Gripen International welcomes the involvement of these industries not only in local manufacture (including possible final assembly), maintenance and operational support of the aircraft and its complex systems, but also, together with other Gripen operators, in their future development, including research and development, design and integration.
